We have an exciting opportunity come up at a High Performance Computing Global Organisation on a permanent basis that is searching for a talented individual who is looking for a new challenge in an organisation that offers excellent training and progression. The company and their data center is located in Surrey, the south east of England. This role can benefit from being mostly remote working. The successful candidate would be expected to come into the data centre one or two days every fortnight, and then when required by the job.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the UKCC IT Team Leader, the Senior DevOps Specialist position will play a vital role in contributing to the global HPC and Digital Platform team. The position is based in the EAME data centre located in the south east of England.
This role requires a proven track record across a wide range of activities connected to an HPC and Cloud environment. Your primary responsibilities will be to improve and develop their systems, technology and infrastructure, alongside providing third line technical support. Additionally, you will be expected to mentor and coach junior members of the team.
This role will focus on developing their DevOps environment, transitioning from older IT Ops approaches into a more Agile way of working. It will help lead that transition by demonstrating best practice, and through coaching and development of existing staff.
They highly encourage the contribution of ideas and drive in the generations of new concepts and solutions to maintain their outstanding leadership position for technology and service delivery in the marketplace.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Educated to a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree level in any of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems or related computing subjects
Minimum of five years’ experience in relevant fields.
ITIL Foundation level certification
KEY SKILLS:
A strong understanding of the DevOps methodologies
Good experience with Agile Project Management
Extensive levels of Linux administration, preferably in an HPC environment
OpenStack experience
Cloud administration experience
Virtualization knowledge and experience
A passion for technology and enthusiasm for analytical and problem-solving challenges
An enthusiastic attitude towards learning and flexibility to adapt to new challenges or changes in direction
The ability to define and manage project deadlines
The ability to balance workloads across a wide variety of projects
