​One of the UK's top chartered accountancy firms based in Central London are seeking a 2nd Line IT Support Professional to join their team on a permanent basis.

This is an ideal role for someone who is already providing solid 2nd Line Support or someone who has 1st and 2nd Line Support experience who is now ready to make that next step to 2nd Line as you will be escalation for a 1st Line Engineer as well as being part of projects.

The Role

The 2nd Line IT Support Professional will join their IT department which currently comprises 6 staff who are responsible for the provision and support of IT at their offices in London.

The user base within the firm comprises up to 350 (peak) users across several service line focussed departments. Users are either office-based, home-based, or access the systems from one of the offshore partners. They utilise virtually every aspect of IT in some capacity and can thus offer the successful candidate the opportunity to learn these technologies once they are proficient at supporting the day-to-day activities of the users.

While no one specific specialisation is required, candidates with any experience/interest in some of the following areas will be at an advantage;

  • XenApp administration

  • Firewall management

  • VMWare

  • Microsoft SQL (Administration and/or queries)

  • Any knowledge of a “Microsoft Stack” programming language (C#, JavaScript, VBA etc)

  • Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables/models specifically)

  • Office 365 admin.

  • MS Teams

  • MS SharePoint (Office 365)

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of core IT technologies and related business deliverables.

Starting by assisting with the provision of front-line support (1st/2nd Tier) for user issues covering the firm’s standard hardware, the successful candidate will be able to develop their career by moving to a more specialised role with specific emphasis on the administration, support and maintenance of our Microsoft, VMware and Citrix based servers, SQL databases, and associated applications.

The firm is at the beginning of a firmwide rollout of Microsoft 365. This will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to learn this exciting technology and make a valid contribution to the future IT infrastructure of the firm.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of the role include the following:

  • Assisting with front / second line IT Support across a range of desktop infrastructure and applications.

  • Logging error notifications and providing an appropriate response based on priorities.

  • Assisting in diagnosing and repairing faults, providing basic hardware maintenance of servers, PC’s and printers etc., and dealing with third party support providers as required.

  • Supporting e-mail, Intranet and other information systems.

  • Assisting in the investigation of specific new technologies, applications and equipment that is available to the organisation

  • Assist with the identification and remediation of IT Security related risks and vulnerabilities.

  • Assist in the rollout and adoption of Microsoft 365.

  • Assisting with the development and implementation of specific projects as and when required by the Firm, with emphasis on those dependent upon the network and server infrastructure.

  • Desirable Technologies

  • MS Windows 10 desktops and Windows 2012/2016 servers

  • Citrix/XenApp presentation server

  • VMware based Virtual server infrastructures

  • MS Office 2010/2013 tools such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint etc.

  • .NET/HTML5 and Web based applications.

  • Specific professional applications including CCH AP, Digita Personal Tax, Sage Accounts, ProAudit and other SQL based systems.

  • MS Exchange and Outlook Email system support and administration (soon to be replaced by Office 365).

  • Mimecast for web filtering / email security

  • Hardware configuration and set up based on organisational standards.

  • Network support and maintenance.

  • Firewall and remote access systems administration and support.

  • Mobile devices such as smart phones and iPad device set up and support.

  • Backup systems configuration and recovery.
