A global investment management firm located in the City of London is seeking an IT Support Manager for a newly created role to join their team on a permanent basis, offering hybrid working.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The IT Support Manager leads and manages a team of two IT Support professionals, ensuring efficient and effective technical support for all staff and users. This role requires a combination of leadership skills, hands-on technical expertise, and the drive to spearhead projects that enhance the overall support experience. You will also be responsible for building your own team as the organisation continues to expand.

Responsibilities

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the IT Support team, ensuring a high level of technical expertise and team productivity.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

  • Handle recruitment, training, and development of IT Support staff.

  • Suggest projects to improve the existing infrastructure or organisation of the IT Support department, either by implementing new tools of your choice or upgrading the infrastructure.

Support and Service:

  • Oversee the provision of end-user support, including troubleshooting, problem-solving, and issue resolution.

  • Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to ensure cohesive and integrated IT support solutions.

Project Implementation:

  • Lead and implement projects aimed at improving IT support processes, tools, and infrastructure.

  • Monitor project progress, ensuring timely completion and adherence to set standards and guidelines.

 Strategic Planning:

  • Analyse support metrics and feedback to identify areas of improvement.

  • Collaborate with senior management to align IT support strategies with business objectives.

  • Stay updated with the latest IT trends and technologies to ensure the support team is equipped with the best tools and practices.

Vendor Management:

  • Engage and manage vendor relationships, ensuring the delivery of quality products and services.

  • Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements with vendors.

Budget and Resources:

  • Oversee the IT support budget, ensuring optimal allocation and utilisation of resources.

  • Monitor inventory of IT assets and ensure timely upgrades and replacements.

Working Conditions:

  • Standard office environment.

  • Occasional after-hours and weekend support may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 of experience in IT support with at least 3 in a managerial or supervisory role.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Proficiency in IT support tools and software.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to handle stressful situations and prioritise tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Working Knowledge:

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure.

  • Experience with Excel / Office.

  • Optional: Experience with IP telephony solutions.

SALARY

  • Salary is up to £75k plus bonus per annum depending on skills and experience.
